Another month gone-- creepy to think in 3 more I'll be packing up to head home. I workshopped Phylloxera today to a fairly positive response. A few consistency errors; some over-writing, some under-writing, a little confusion about the title and debate over the point of view, but in general positivity abounded and they want to find out what's going to happen. Unfortunately, given the way this class works, they may never find out-- I'll have probably 2 more opportunities to workshop, and both of them should probably pertain to the 6,000 word excerpt from the 'major work' I'm supposed to be planning. So I met with Jane today to discuss an idea for that. She agreed it had legs and provided a lot of room for expansion and exploration, and was impressed that I'd done a good amount of research on it. Hurray!
After the meeting but before class I snuck off to the UniBar for a drink, and then hit The British with Martina later in the evening. Tomorrow we're back on track; of these twice-daily writing periods (I did neither today :/ ) I hope to spend one fleshing out the novel idea, and the other continuing work on short stories, essays, editorials, poems, transcribing, scribbling, etc. To keep me sane, and working. Word.
Drink Count: 5
Okay, the real reason I started this 'Worst Album Cover' series is because my cheeky professor has been googling us-- she found Martina's blog and my poem over at
Nonce, but thanks to a Canadian photographer and my common sense when it comes to using my full name online, she hasn't discovered this little site, or any of the other places I frequent online.
Yet. But since pictures are the only real way to identify me, I'll just stay incognito for a little while. In the meantime, enjoy...
