Poet Ken Bolton (read some of his poems here) was a guest-speaker in class today and we had an awesome talk about the place of humor in high art and how based surely on the law of averages most of us would never sell a book, so instead of being concerned about marketability or "success" we might as well just have fun and see what happens. I like that idea, and also the idea of collaborative writing. Martina wants to get drunk over the break and write a movie with me, which I think is a terrible idea because I generally hate film and have no interest in being a screenwriter. I'm having a hard enough time figuring out poetry and short stories, let alone children's books, novellas, novels, cartoons, adult films, or theatrical productions. Film is at the far ass end of the spectrum of desire.Had a typical Monday UniBar trip and went home to fulfill my newest resolution: to spend at least one hour reading each day. For someone who wants to be a writer, I'm ashamed of how little I actually read, so today I started a non-fiction book on nuclear proliferation and began rereading Catcher In The Rye. I've read it twice in years past and loved it both times, but now that I know a little something about writing I think it will have even more to offer me.
Drink Count: 4
A little shack action-- notice the sweet mismatched drawers, counters and appliances, with nothing newer than 1989.
Who's totally fucked up(with awesome hair)? (P.S. It's me!!)
