I went to Aami Stadium today with Sophie, Colleen and Megan to watch the Geelong Cats beat the unholy hell out of the Port Adelaide Power. It was an important game because they were ranked #3 and #2 respectively, and the #1 team lost. There were about 25,000 Port supporters there and a small but hardened bunch of Geelong loyalists present to see the Cats flog them. A proper flogging-- 116 to 60 or so, and most of those 60 points Port scored in the last 10 minutes. It's always fun to see a home team get their heads kicked in because you get to hear little kids all decked out in teal jerseys and beanies screaming foul things at the players, and some guy behind me who shouted variations on "Ya stupid cunts!" at least four times. Only two things made the day rough: 1. it was raining, so we had to buy little ponchos and deal with the cold, and 2. you can buy alcohol at the stadium, but you can't take it into the stands. So we had to go down between quarters and chug our $5 pints of West End Draught so we could go see the game again. What kind of a world do we live in where I can't even sip and enjoy my beer while watching an athletic match?
After the game we went to Hungry Jack's (aka Burger King) and I ate crappy fast food (I'll air my beefs about this some other time) but collected enough Coke to go home and make so-so calimochos. I did a nominal amount of writing, mostly poetry, but I did some reading too so the day wasn't a total waste. I may even decide to read the new story in class tomorrow, just for shits and giggles, even without the super-Liz line edit-- invariably the class will have some minor complaints so I might as well find those out and work on that alongside the Lizness.
