Another long day... met Susan and caught a Peace Corps bus to the village of Emua in northwest Efate for the swearing-in of the new volunteers. Beautiful village, sweet people, crying ni-van families watching their adopted white children leave after only 9 weeks. Funny, moving ceremony right on the water, though mostly in Bislama, followed by a HUGE party, kava ceremony, and feast. Oh yes, and the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen in my life: sitting in the warm sand, mouth and mind numb, ni-van kids playing soccer and screeching laughter. Good damn day.

So jealous! I miss the kava ceremonies and raost pig buffets. Please tell me that in all your kava exploits you got the "earmuffs," where it feels like a curtain covers your ears. It's the best evar!
