6/29 AAA, Day 16: Kava Hangover

It doesn't give you a conventional hangover, but it's with you and you know it... you're just sluggish and exhausted all day. The combination of that, some intestinal distress, and the good advice of a Swiss girl kept me from abandoning Nadi today and heading off to Suva. Instead, I booked a tour for the day after tomorrow, and kind of one for tomorrow. It just needs to be confirmed by reception and I'll spend two full days out of this place. So today I went into downtown Nadi which is a dirty, squalid, boring little place-- an Indo-Fijian Tijuana with all the class that entails. But the open market was cool and full of delicious and cheap local produce. New friend Domenica shopped while I tagged along for the spectacle before heading back beachways to wait for Tom and Hayley who were skydiving and landing on the beach right outside (they gave me their camera). We then assembled a mini-UN, drank rum and beer and talked until late into the night. Hopes were high that my tour had been confirmed and I would be out of there in the morning to go tour caves in the interior of the island.
